The Watergate complex lies in the north of Washington near Virginia Avenue this is a super block, which was developed by an Italian firm, called Societa Generale Immobiliare. The Italian firm started developing in the early 1960's where they diverted water from the Potomac River into the Tidal Basin at flood tide. This is what is known as the Watergate. An Italian architect who was named Luigi Moretti designed six buildings on the site of the Watergate complex. He also designed a hotel, two office buildings, three apartment buildings and a retail centre. 

The US capitol building's dome which has a lot of eventful history behind it; from the time when George Washington put the 1st cornerstone down in 1793 the Capitol has been built, extended, rebuilt and restored. The restored Capitol building, which stands today, contains 540 rooms and has 658 windows and about 850 doorways. There is a crowning feature on the dome of the Capitol building, which is a bronze statue of freedom. The outstanding statue stands 19 feet and 6 inches tall and weighs around 15000 pounds.
